Beargrass Beatdown Supported Overnighter

What is it?

The Beargrass Beatdown is a supported overnighter mountain bike ride. You pedal deep into the mountains while your gear is shuttled to the campsite.

When is it?

Saturday June 15th – Sunday June 16th 2024. We will leave the shop at 10:30am and return around early afternoon the next day.

Where is it?

The ride will begin at Beargrass Bicycles (1260 Tucker Road) and take a route up through Post Canyon, over Mt. Defiance, across Wacoma Ridge, and down to Lake Branch road.

Parking is available at the shop.

What are we bringing?

We will have extra water and beer/beverages available at the campsite. We plan on having food available for dinner and breakfast. We also welcome potluck meals to share. We will also have extra plates, dishes, and other utensils available.

What should you bring?

We have vehicles to shuttle out gear to the camping location. Bring a tent/sleeping bag and/or other sleeping gear. A change of clothes for the evening and night. Food and snacks for riding both days. You are welcome to bring your own food and cooking gear for dinner and breakfast if preferred.

What type of riding should you expect?

Most of the riding is on technical singletrack with some paved and dirt road sections. A mountain bike is recommended. Some people may opt for a gravel bike. Be aware that the trail off the top of Mt. Defiance as well as Waucoma Ridge are very chunky.

The first day’s ride is about 36 miles and over 5500k of vertical. We have all day to get there so the pace will be more casual-medium with plenty of breaks. However, this ride does have some very strenuous sections and even some “hike-a-bike” sections.

If you are interested in participating in the ride, send and email or give us a call. We have a GPS of the route posted at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46518004
